Porcelain Veneers
Veneers are ultra-thin tooth-like porcelain molded (for shape and color) professional dental laboratories. The front of their teeth are shaped into a beautiful, attractive smile.
Veneers can completely transform your teeth and smile. Crown replacements can often be the best solutions in the treatment of many arthritic conditions.
Like most dental restorations, caps are not permanent and may sometimes need to be replaced. They are extremely durable and last for years, giving you a beautiful, long-lasting smile.
Reasons for porcelain veneers:
- Cosmetically, to create a uniform, white, beautiful smile.
- Crooked teeth.
- Misshapen teeth.
- Severely discolored or stained teeth.
- Teeth that are too small or large for the space they have.
- Unwanted or uneven spaces.
- Worn or chipped teeth.
What does getting porcelain veneers involve?
Getting veneers usually requires two visits before the procedure is complete. The teeth are prepared to support the thickness of the coating. The veneer decoration is more conservative than the crown. A mold or shape of the tooth is taken and you and the dentist choose the shade (color).
During the second visit, the teeth will be cleaned with a special fluid to maintain permanent alignment. Cement is then bonded between the tooth and the overlay and a special light is used to harden and seal the bond.
You will receive care instructions for veneers. Proper brushing, flossing and regular dental visits will aid in the life of your new veneers.
